Hey, everybody!
Something I’ve always done since I began writing, like many people, is to use pieces of music to help me write particular parts of a story or, as sometimes also happens, I’ll come across a certain song purely by chance and it’ll wind up sparking the idea for a scene or even a brand new story entirely.
And, as was the case when writing the first Mustang book, I wound up doing just that to help me write certain chapters and help me tap into the feeling I wanted to try and convey down onto the page.
So, if you’ve read the first book and want to know what music inspired some of my favourite moments in it, then check out the links below. Though, fair warning, if you haven’t finished the first book? The list below contains *SPOILERS*, so consider yourself warned!
Maggie Arrives at the Creek: Creedence Clearwater Revival – Bad Moon Rising
Mustang Upstages Byron: Jimi Hendrix – Voodoo Child (I couldn’t find an appropriate video to link with this, unfortunately)
Mustang goes back to Orlando with Tess/Ray alone: Creedence Clearwater Revival – Have You Ever Seen The Rain?
Racing through the night to make it back to the Creek from Florida: Creedence Clearwater Revival – Fortunate Son
Mustang demolishes Kretschko (Debut of Mustang’s Theme): The Black Keys – Gold on the Ceiling
Mustang vs Skip: The Black Keys – Howlin’ For You
Mustang vs Byron – Final Showdown: D-Generation X – Are You Ready?
Mustang beats Byron/hugs Ray: Audiomachine – Humanity Defined
So, there you go, I hope that list expands your enjoyment of those moments from the first book and that it gives your imagination as much extra fuel as it did mine.
See you all next Saturday!
